site.btaRuling Party Holds Final Pre-Election Rally in Yerevan Ahead of Armenian Parliamentary Vote
Addressing the final election campaign rally of his party Civil Contract held at Republic Square in central Yerevan on Friday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the people were the masters of the state and that it was precisely them who should govern Armenia.
Pashinyan reportedly described the opposition as a “three-headed war party” warning that it should not be allowed into parliament.
It was also said that after the elections he would begin work on a new constitution for the country, and he called on all citizens to defend the Republic of Armenia, its independence, and its freedom.
Members of his government used the platform to present the cabinet’s achievements over the past eight years. Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan outlined Armenia’s economic indicators for 2026 in comparison with 2018, arguing that they reflected strong growth and development. Defence Minister Suren Papikyan spoke about reforms and achievements in the defence sector, presenting recent investments and briefly highlighting newly acquired armaments. At the same rally, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan emphasized the introduction of universal health insurance.
Speakers from the ruling party directed criticism at the opposition. Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan told the crowd of around 25,000-35,000 people that the “era of oligarchs in Armenia” had ended, referring to billionaire and leader of the Strong Armenia bloc Samvel Karapetyan.
The parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for Sunday. Eighteen political forces participate in the vote – two blocs and 16 parties. As of May 29, 2026, the total number of registered voters is 2,485,232. The voting will take place in 2,005 polling stations across the country.
