site.btaMunicipal Leadership, Spanish Delegation Discuss Kazanlak-Xativa Cooperation Opportunities

The municipal leadership of Kazanlak and a delegation from the Spanish city of Xativa discussed opportunities for cooperation in culture, education, tourism, and business, Kazanlak Municipality said in a press release on Saturday. With such meetings, aimed at building a sustainable partnership between the two municipalities, preparations for the twinning of Kazanlak and Xativa continue. 

During the meeting, Kazanlak Mayor Galina Stoyanova presented the history, traditions, and development of the city to the Spanish delegation, putting an emphasis on the Rose Festival, cultural heritage, and active community life. During the presentation of Kazanlak’s new brochure, she also showed a photo of the Buzludzha Monument and spoke in detail about its history and current status.

Deputy Mayor Srebra Kaseva and international relations expert Stela Radovanova participated in the meeting. The Spanish delegation was represented by Deputy Mayors Xelo Luna and Pedro Lopez, as well as by representatives of the company Balkanica Distral in Xativa, led by President Petar Petrov.

Emphasis was also placed on Kazanlak’s economic profile - strong industrial traditions, mechanical engineering, and stable employment - with the observation that the city attracts and retains young people through good opportunities for professional development.

Both sides expressed readiness for next steps, including the exchange of memorandums, according to the press release. 

On Friday, Stoyanova met with delegations from sister and partner cities visiting Kazanlak for the Rose Festival. In addition to the delegation from Xativa, Kazanlak is hosting representatives from the cities of Nagykanizsa in Hungary, Veria, Didymoteicho, and Xanthi in Greece, Lomza in Poland, Jinan in China, Kocani in the Republic of North Macedonia, Lai Chau in Vietnam, and Muratpasa in Turkiye.
