The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour are organizing a warning protest in front of the Council of Ministers building on October 31, the two trade union organizations announced on Wednesday. The protest is "due to the disagreement of the two trade union organizations with the planned reduction in the minimum wage from the beginning of 2026 and the lack of a state policy on income," the unions said.
The protest is scheduled before the meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation, at which the draft budget for 2026 will be discussed.
Earlier in the day, CITUB and Podkrepa announced that the 2026 draft budget provides for a minimum wage of EUR 605 instead of the previously announced EUR 620. The unions warned that if this happens, it will be in violation with the law.
