Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) President Evelina Slavcheva participated in the 18th edition of the Academy of Science Presidents’ Meeting, BAS said.
The event is organized annually by the Science Council of Japan within the framework of the Science and Technology in Society (STS Forum).
This year’s theme was “Promoting Innovative Approaches to Science Funding.” Participants shared the experiences of their institutions in securing funding for promising scientific developments in priority areas and discussed the pros and cons of existing mechanisms for approving scientific projects.
BAS President Slavcheva presented the successful experience of BAS institutes in combining various national and international programs for funding scientific research and innovations. She also participated in a symposium on Regional Actions on Climate Change (RACC17).
The 22nd edition of the Science and Technology in Society Forum was opened on October 5 in the city of Kyoto, in the presence of Emperor Naruhito, the 126th Emperor of Japan. During the opening session, a speech was given by Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Scientific Research, and Innovation.
The event continues until October 7 and provides a platform for discussions on the most current issues related to science and technology. Every year, the forum attracts hundreds of participants from the fields of science, politics, and business.
