Over 150 kg of excise-free hookah tobacco were confiscated by officers of the Sofia Directorate of Interio, and two people, aged 39 and 53, were detained during the transaction, the Sofia Directorate of Interior said.

The work on the case began after a signal was sent to the Sofia Directorate of Interior Economic Police Department about an upcoming transaction with excise-free hookah tobacco. The economic police officers and officers from the Seventh Regional Police Department formed a team.

At the time of the transaction with the excise goods, two people were detained. After a search of a car driven by one of the men, over 60 kg of excise-free hookah tobacco were found and confiscated. The homes inhabited by the detainees were also searched. Over 90 kg of hookah tobacco, vapes, cut tobacco for cigarettes and stacks of cigarettes were confiscated, all without excise stamps.

An investigation has been opened into the case. A report of the materials is pending at the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office, and the work on the case is ongoing.

A few days ago, during a specialized operation in the capital's Iliyantsi district, economic police officers from the Second Regional Department of the Sofia Directorate of Interior confiscated 2,600 children's toys and other items. According to preliminary observations, goods from well-known brands were stored in this warehouse without the consent of the owner of the exclusive right.
