Prof. Hristo Haralampiev exhibits 7 sculptures and 17 drawings at Art Gallery Vejdi in Sofia. The exhibition opens on February 11, the host gallery announced.
"Here, the drawings and sculptures interact through a principle of counterpoint, complementing one another. In Hristo Haralampiev’s work, such a combination has long evolved into a consistently articulated ideological and plastic program, one that the artist has constantly developed over the years. Like two sides of the same coin, the two media not only complement each other but also exist in a powerful relationship of mutual dependence," art historian Prof. Chavdar Popov said.
"Hristo Haralampiev is among the artists who have indisputably left a lasting mark on the time they work in. They are talented, expressive, and professional in their skills, with their own sensitivity and passion, which makes them recognizable," Vejdi Rashidov said.
Hristo Haralampiev was born in 1953 in Sofia. He graduated from the National Academy of Art, majoring in sculpture in 1979. He works in the field of sculpture and monumental sculpture, as well as in the area of the drawing, the synthesis of plastic arts and architecture, the morphology of space and theory related to the problem, the pedagogy of drawing and sculpture.
He is the author of publications in periodicals and specialized scientific journals, reviews and reports on habilitation theses and doctoral defenses, expert opinions. At present, he is Professor at the Drawing and Modeling Department at the Faculty of Architecture of the University for Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy.
Since 1982 he has been a member of Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA). From 1999 to 2005 he was the chairman of the UBA. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Support of Art in Bulgaria Foundation. He is the chair of the Specialized expert council for fine arts at the Culture Ministry.
He has over 20 solo exhibitions and has participated in international projects and sculpture symposia. He has numerous awards, including the prize of the Culture Ministry for Contribution to the Development of Culture. His works are owned by the National Art Gallery, the Sofia City Art Gallery, art galleries around the country, the Art Dialogue Association – Paris, private collections and foundations in Germany, Belgium, Turkiye, USA, Canada, Poland, South Korea, Austria and others.
