site.btaParliament Chair Kiselova: Wait for President Radev’s Court Motion before Debate

National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova said on Saturday that President Rumen Radev's intention to petition the Constitutional Court could be debated after the motion is filed and its details are clear.
Kiselova spoke in the mountain town of Apriltsi, northern Bulgaria, where she attended events marking the 149th anniversary of the proclamation of the Novoselska Republic, part of the April Uprising.
She noted that it was not possible to comment on the President’s intentions. The reaction from the head of State was expected, she added, but she did not foresee any delay in Bulgaria’s progress towards eurozone membership.
Kiselova said the legislature had moved “more slowly” than planned because of internal resistance, yet it continued to follow its established rules.
Turning to the day’s commemorations, Kiselova called the Novoselsko Uprising and the short-lived Novoselska Republic “defining moments” of the April Uprising, stressing that everyone—from children and the elderly to women and men—joined the revolt and suffered heavy losses, without a single betrayal.
Together with Lovech Regional Governor Dora Stoyanova and Apriltsi Mayor Tihomir Kukenski, Kiselova laid wreaths at Cheren Monument area to honour those who died during the uprising.
Kiselova is scheduled to review an honour guard of the Bulgarian Army and deliver an address marking the anniversary later on Saturday.
