Curricula, sports, bullying and healthy eating dominate the agenda of the ninth edition of the Voice It Youth Forum in Sofia, on the occasion of World Children’s Day, November 20. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) was adopted on this day in 1989.

In his opening remarks Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov urged students to participate actively in discussions on any topic, so that this could provide the basis to decisions in their favour. Denkov cited a questionnaire among students on the future change of school curricula.

The event is organized by the National Network for Children (NCN) and its Megaphone Youth Programme in partnership with Lidl Bulgaria. Each year it allows children to share their views on issues that are important to them and be part of their solution.

“The aim is to pay attention to children’s rights. It is important that they are aware of them,” said Antoaneta Ivanova of NNC.

Alexandra Gyoshkova, an alumnus of the Megaphone Programme, underscored how important it is for children to know their rights.

The discussions are moderated by vlogger Tsveta “Flora” Stratieva.

Celebrities, politicians and representatives of institutions joined the conversation to share their perspective on the topics in focus and discuss all the challenges and all the possible solutions together with the young people from the Megaphone programme. More than 100 students from four Bulgarian cities participated in a closed session before the official part of the event to formulate the questions to ask the representatives of the legislative and executive powers.
