Bulgaria's President Iliana Iotova has held a working meeting with Bulgarian Swimming Federation President Georgi Avramchev and European Aquatics President Antonio Jose Silva.

Avramchev and Silva briefed Iotova on the programme and objectives of an upcoming international swimming seminar organized by European Aquatics. The forum will take place in Sofia on February 28 and March 1 and will bring together all certified officials involved in competitions held under the auspices of the organization.

After meeting with Iotova, Avramchev and Silva also met with caretaker Youth and Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev. Their talks focused on the need to further promote mass participation in sport among children and young people. The sides stressed that sports play a vital role in fostering healthy habits, discipline and social skills, while also helping to address the growing levels of aggression among adolescents. Expanding accessible sports initiatives and programmes can serve as an effective tool for prevention and social integration, they noted.

Silva expressed satisfaction with the good cooperation with the Bulgarian federation under Avramchev’s leadership. He noted that Bulgaria remains an active partner in the development of swimming in Europe and plays an important role in hosting international events and training forums. Petar Stoychev, a member of the World Aquatics Technical Swimming Committee, also took part in the meeting.
