In a special operation against drug trafficking in Varna, on February 25, officers from the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP) in the city detained 11 people for 24 hours, the directorate announced on Friday.

Among those taken into custody was the area’s primary supplier of fentanyl and methamphetamine. He was apprehended while carrying out a deal with his distributor, according to the GDBOP.

The case has been reported to the Varna District Prosecutor's Office. Four individuals have been formally charged and are being held for up to 72 hours under a prosecutor’s order.

During the operation, law enforcement officers seized 182.77 g of pressed fentanyl, 21.10 g of methamphetamine, 59.165 g of marijuana, mobile phones, weighing scales, and EUR 23,730 in cash.

Earlier this month, a man and a woman, in whose home fentanyl and hashish were found, were arrested during a police operation in Varna.
