President Iliana Iotova opened on Friday an exhibition entitled "Freedom and National Consciousness" at the Alphonse de Lamartine Ninth French Language High School, from which she graduated, the President’s press secretariat said on Friday.
The exhibition is dedicated to the national holiday of Bulgaria - Liberation Day, celebrated on March 3, and its author is photographer and artist Velislav Nikolov.
Iotova congratulated the management of the High School and wished the students success. "We live in a historical time, different from all previous periods, whose distinguishing characteristic is speed. Through young people we see the future," she said.
During the opening ceremony, students presented their interpretations of photographic reproductions of famous paintings by Bulgarian and foreign artists related to Bulgarian history.
"This exhibition carries the values that preserved us as a people and built us as a nation," the President said, noting that it stands as proof of the long and very difficult history that Bulgarians have fought to achieve on their own.
