A total of 41 Turkish citizens wanted for various crimes and found to have fled abroad have been detained by the authorities in cooperation with partner services, the Turkish Interior Ministry announced on Friday. Some of the individuals were wanted with an Interpol red notice, and five of them were returned to Turkiye by Bulgaria.

It is not clear what specific crime each of them was wanted for, but the department's statement states that they were wanted for drug distribution, cybercrime, and terrorism. According to a statement by the Turkish Ministry of Interior, the individuals were detained with the cooperation of other national institutions such as the Ministry of Justice and international ones such as Interpol.

A total of 23 of those arrested were wanted with a red notice and returned from other countries, and another 18 were declared nationally wanted. In addition to Bulgaria, those wanted with a red notice were also deported to Turkiye from Albania, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Iraq, Montenegro, and Slovenia.
