The Taraclia branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse hosted Moldova’s celebrations of May 24, the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture, and of Slavic Literature, with an official ceremony and a festive concert programme.

Among the official guests at the event were Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Moldova Maya Dobreva, Chair of the Moldova-Bulgaria Friendship Group in the Moldovan Parliament and Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Interethnic Relations Natalia Davidovici, Head of the Interethnic Relations Department at Moldova’s Ministry of Education and Science Ivan Duminica, adviser to Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Yulia Kozachenko, Vice Rector of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse Gencho Popov, and church warden of St George the Victorious  Church in Taraclia Vladimir Paskalov.

During the ceremony, it was said that on the eve of May 24, a total of 105 students from the Taraclia region had taken part in a Bulgarian spelling competition. The winners received certificates and cash prizes, while the teachers of the top-performing students and the organizers of Dictation 2026 were also honoured.

The concert programme featured performances of classical and folk music pieces.

Following the concert, guests were invited to a festive reception organised in the university foyer.

Before the ceremony, which took place in the university’s main hall, participants laid flowers at the memorial plaque dedicated to Cyril and Methodius in the university garden.
