President Rumen Radev thanked all those who supported the efforts he and Vice President Iliana Iotova have made to uphold statehood and the public interest in the ninth year of their mandate, he wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday.

“In 2025, the citizens of Bulgaria expressed an uncompromising will for change. They did so guided by the conviction that Bulgarians deserve a dignified life, justice, transparent institutions and politicians who listen to the voice of the people. Let us preserve this will and turn it into action,” Radev wrote.

“We are ready, we can, and we will succeed,” the President concluded.

On Monday, Radev addressed the nation to report that he will be submitting his resignation as head of State on Tuesday. The following day, he tendered his resignation to the Constitutional Court, which is scheduled to hold a hearing on the case on Friday.
