Clara Staicu, State Secretary for European Affairs of Romania, expressed strong support for the European Union's expansion efforts in Sofia Thursday. She was among the speakers at the EU Meets the Balkans forum.

The event is organized by the European Liberal Forum, the ALDE Party, and the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria with the participation of Vice President Iliana Iotova, EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk, representatives from Turkiye, Romania, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, and Montenegro, Bulgarian MPs and policy experts.

Staiculescu highlighted that last week Albania opened a new negotiation cluster, and expressed hope that this momentum will continue. She emphasized the need to leverage shared regional strengths as an advantage, calling for greater integration and the building of a stronger regional identity.
