The European Parliament (EP) praised Serbia for the country's strategic goal to become a full member of the European Union and the start of the construction of a gas pipeline with Bulgaria, Tanjug News Agency reported.

In a draft report, EP noted the State's election of new Minister of European Integration, the improvements in energy security, and the steering of the Serbian energy market towards diversification.

The document mentions Belgrade's constructive attitude in the dialogue with Pristina but also expresses regrets that Serbia has not introduced sanctions against Russia. The draft report underlines EP's deep concern over the presence of strategic investments from Russia and China in the country and the cooperation with the "authoritarian regime of Iran". Serbia is urged to distance itself from such "anti-democratic regimes".
