A total of 42,800 young Bulgarians aged 15 to 34 have left or interrupted their education, according to data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI). The poll, part of the 2024 Labour Force Survey module Young People in the Labour Market, reveals that 3.5% of respondents in this age group had begun but not completed a degree or professional qualification.

Among them, 5,800 left school to work, 8,800 due to issues related to the education system, 13,000 for financial reasons, and 15,200 for other reasons.

The module, co-financed by the European Commission, also found that among employed respondents aged 15-34 with a completed field of study, 58.5% reported a high or very high match between their qualification and their current job.
