site.btaPrime Minister Zhelyazkov to Open Discussion on Eurozone Effects

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov will open a discussion, titled “The Effect of the Eurozone: Lessons from Member States,” at the Council of Ministers, the government information service said. The forum is organized by the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria and is part of the Communication Strategy for the introduction of the single European currency in Bulgaria.

Participants include members of the Economic and Social Council representing Bulgarian business, trade unions, and civil society organizations, as well as representatives of consumer organizations from Lithuania and Latvia. The discussion will also be attended by representatives of the National Assembly, the Bulgarian National Bank, financial and oversight institutions, and the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria.

On Thursday, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Valdis Dombrovskis expressed optimism that the procedure for Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone will be completed in the coming days. He spoke to journalists in Luxembourg ahead of the Eurogroup meeting.
