Solomon Islands head coach Ben Kahn said his team will try to make things as difficult as possible for Bulgaria in their opening match of the FIFA Series 2026 tournament in Indonesia.

Kahn described the game as both a challenge and a "fantastic opportunity" for his team to face a European side ranked significantly higher in the FIFA standings.

The match is scheduled for Friday at 10:30 local time at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

"We will try to make it as difficult as possible for the Bulgarians by creating good counterattacks. Bulgaria are a tough opponent, but we will do our best," Kahn said.

He noted that his team has prepared well in recent months and expects Bulgaria to control possession and dominate the midfield.

Kahn, who has been in charge of the national team for only a few days but knows many of the players from his club side Solomon Kings, said the tournament offers valuable experience against stronger opposition.

He added that facing teams with Bulgaria's football traditions is an important step in the development of the Solomon Islands national team on the international stage.
