The role of the media has changed radically in the last 20 years, in a good sense of the word, Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha stated during the 20th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Sofia on Saturday.

"In the presence of complete chaos with possible social media and other ways to misinform or abuse people's trust, your role becomes even more responsible," he pointed out, emphasizing that journalists are the authoritative factors, who build trust and reassure people who are looking for something that has been proven, instead of fantasies which are refuted the next day.  "The role of the media has become more significant for the good of our society," he stressed.

Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha noted that quite a few young people ask him whether Bulgaria has a future. "Why not, just like any other country? With the capacity we have and with the cultural past, we are a relatively new society and therefore there is an opportunity. We have wonderful people, prepared and enthusiastic", he stressed, noting that he is increasingly convinced that Bulgaria will survive.

This year’s forum is held with the support of A1, Aurubis Bulgaria, BGR Group Ltd., Geotechmin, Glavbolgarstroy Holding, Logistic Systems Ltd., the 13 centuries Bulgaria National Endowment Fund, SFA Automotive Ltd. (the official importer of Opel in Bulgaria), Postbank, Pachkov Ltd., and SOF Connect (the operator of Vasil Levski Sofia Airport).
