site.btaDemocratic Bulgaria Co-leader Atanasov: "We Will Do Our Best to End Political Crisis by Second Mandate"

"We will do everything possible with the second [government-forming] mandate to end the political crisis because all institutions are destabilized", Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) alliance co-floor leader and Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) Chairperson Atanas Atanasov told journalists here on Tuesday. He said that the CC-DB alliance takes the political situation in Bulgaria very seriously and its members are aware that a large part of society expects a regular government to be formed.

Atanasov added that the CC-DB nominee for prime minister Nikolay Denkov will be empowered to select the expert-based cabinet line-up. Different candidates are yet to be discussed, he noted.

Asked to comment on CC co-chairperson Kiril Petkov’s words that the ministerial candidates will remain the same, except for Mariya Gabriel, Atanasov said that this depends entirely on the PM nominee.

Atanasov believes there will be some replacements among the ministerial candidates, but he refused to give further details on the topic at this stage.

The CC-DB alliance co-floor leader is part of the Bulgarian parliamentary delegation to visit Vatican City on May 24.
