Economy and Industry Minister Nikola Stoyanov met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria Olesya Uluschuk, Stoyanov's ministry said in a press release on Tuesday. The two discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the economic sphere, as well as the possibilities for deepening trade relations between the countries.

"There is a historical Bulgarian diaspora of over 200,000 people in Ukraine, which further strengthens our relations and creates a solid foundation for their further deepening in all areas of mutual interest," Minister Stoyanov pointed out. He added that the two countries have traditionally good economic relations and Ukraine has been among Bulgaria's leading trade partners over the years.

"The two countries have shown that they maintain and develop their economic ties, even in conditions of war," Stoyanov said. He stressed Bulgaria's solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the readiness of Bulgarian companies to actively participate in the process of rebuilding the country after the end of hostilities.

Stoyanov also raised the issue of the increased import of grain and sunflower from Ukraine and noted the need to find a balanced solution for the region.
