Angel Angelov Back in Skopje as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to North Macedonia

As an expression of the Bulgarian desire to find an approach to de-escalate the bilateral tensions, Angel Angelov is currently in the Republic of North Macedonia and once again fulfilling his functions as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of North Macedonia, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said here Tuesday. 

Ambassador Angelov was part of the official delegation of caretaker Deputy Prime Minister for Public Order and Security and Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev, which visited Skopje on January 30 . 

On January 23 caretaker Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov summoned Ambassador Angelov for consultations in Sofia.

At that time, the Ministry stressed on the serious situation regarding the rights of Bulgarians in North Macedonia and the recent escalation of hate crimes against them as the reason for Angelov's temporary return to Bulgaria.
