For yet another year, representatives of the Bulgarian community in North Macedonia commemorated the anniversary of the death of Mara Buneva in Skopje.
They laid flowers at a memorial plaque of Mara Buneva on the quay of the Vardar River, and a traditional memorial service was held at the Church of St. Demetrius near the Stone Bridge in the centre of Skopje. It was there that on January 13, 1928, Mara Buneva shot legal adviser Velimir Prelic, who was responsible for the Skopje student trial against members of the Macedonian Youth Secret Revolutionary Organization, after which she also shot herself.
In the preceding days, representatives of Bulgarian associations also honoured Mara Buneva with floral tributes.
