Excellent bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Germany provide a solid foundation for developing economic, cultural, and political ties between the two countries, said GERB leader Boyko Borissov in a Facebook post on Monday. Borissov held a meeting with Nathanael Liminski, Minister for Federal, European and International Affairs and the Media and Head of the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia, in Dussledorf.
“Germany is our leading partner in the European Union and we share common values and a vision for a united Europe. I also highlighted Bulgaria’s progress, which is a clear sign of the country’s stability and sustainable development. From January 1, 2026, Bulgaria will become a full member of the Eurozone: an important step that confirms our position as a reliable and predictable partner within the European family,” GERB leader wrote.
Earlier in the day, Borissov met with Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger. They discussed Bulgarian-German joint ventures to manufacture gunpowder and 155mm artillery rounds, with a shared investment of EUR 1 billion.
