In May 2025, the production index in the Construction sector increased by 5.1% compared to the same month of 2024, according to seasonally adjusted data released by the National Statistical Institute on Thursday.
Despite the slowdown in the rate of growth compared to previous months, the index recorded 17 consecutive months of annual increase. On a month-on-month basis, it registered a decline of 0.5%.
Annual changes
In May 2025, compared to the same month of 2024, a rise of the production was registered in the civil engineering - by 9.3%, in the specialized construction activities - by 4.5%, and in the construction of buildings - by 3.1%.
Monthly changes
In May 2025, compared to the previous month, a decrease was observed in the specialized construction activities - by 1.7%. An increase was seen in the production of civil engineering - by 0.3%, as well as in the building construction - by 0.2%.
The monthly indices show the short-term changes in the construction production between two comparable periods. The indices are calculated on the basis of information on hours worked in construction. The data are collected with a monthly sample survey that includes construction enterprises, whose production exceeds 75% of the total production in construction.
