The General Labour Inspectorate Executive Agency has concluded its second extraordinary campaign in the construction sector, the agency said on Thursday. In the period between May 19 and June 13, labour inspectors carried out 1,116 inspections in 1,102 enterprises performing construction and installation works. A total of 5,122 violations of labour legislation were found, of which 933 were related to the implementation of employment relationships, and 4,178 were related to the provision of healthy and safe working conditions. During the inspections, 145 workers without a written employment contract were identified, 505 acts were drawn up to establish administrative violations.

Within the framework of the campaign, the control bodies of the Labour Inspectorate suspended 185 workplaces, sites and facilities for violations directly threatening the life and health of workers. Since the beginning of the year, labour inspectors have applied this measure 668 times compared to 355 times for the same period in 2024. The measure is applied to violations that directly threaten the life and health of workers and have a preventive role in preventing serious occupational accidents.

Since the beginning of the year, a total of 4,537 inspections have been carried out in construction and 20,404 violations of the provisions of labour legislation have been found. The identified cases of work without an employment contract in the sector were 619, with a total of 1,655 cases of work without an employment contract identified in all economic activities. Despite the intensified and systematic control carried out by the Labour Inspectorate, the construction sector continues to be one of the most risky in terms of occupational injuries.

In connection with the upcoming summer months and expected high temperatures, the General Labour Inspectorate draws attention to the fact that working outdoors poses a risk to the life and health of workers in the construction sector. The Agency appeals to employers to take measures to ensure healthy and safe working conditions when working in an overheated microclimate and when working outdoors.
