The World Bank said that it will provide advisory support to the Bulgarian Ministry of e-Government to strengthen strategically, organizationally and technologically.

The World Bank will support Bulgaria's efforts to implement the European Data Strategy. The aim of this strategy is to provide the economy and society with more information in compliance with European rules on "privacy, data protection and competition".


E-Government Minister Valentin Mundrov and the Resident Representative of the World Bank for Bulgaria, Czechia and Slovakia Lasse Melgaard signed an agreement, which provides for the provision of reimbursable advisory services to build a strategic, organizational and technical framework for data management. The arrangement also includes the creation of data spaces in Bulgaria.

"Data is an essential resource for economic growth, competitiveness, innovation, job creation and development," said Lesse Melgaard. The international financial institution has partnered with the Government of Bulgaria in the field of digital transformation and the establishment of e-government in recent years.
