The Jubilee Scientific Conference Cultural Heritage – Art – Museums was officially inaugurated here on Wednesday, in tribute to Corresponding Member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), Doctor of Art Studies, Prof. Mila Santova, DSc.
The conference, held at the Academy Gallery of the National Academy of Arts in Sofia will conclude on Thursday. The event's comprehensive programme features a roster of over 40 leading scientists and experts hailing from BAS, universities, and museums nationwide. The discussions will revolve around the scientific subjects that Santova has dedicated her career to.
Vice President Iliana Iotova was present at the grand opening. In her words, Prof. Santova is among the rare few that truly deserve her accolade as an encyclopaedist.
BAS Corresponding Member, Doctor of Art Studies, Prof. Mila Santova, DSc. is a former deputy minister of culture, former director of the BAS Institute of Folklore, inaugural director of the BAS Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with the Ethnographic Museum, former chair of the International Council of Museums – Bulgaria. Santova is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the Golden Age award, a star and a certificate bestowed by the Minister of Culture. She received a commemorative medal marking 50 years of Bulgaria in UNESCO, a merit award from BAS, and a commendation from the BAS President for her contributions to studying and promoting Bulgarian intangible cultural heritage.
