Speaking on Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday, caretaker Energy Minister Traicho Traikov said that the caretaker Cabinet's main task, besides organizing fair elections, is to strengthen people’s sense that voting matters.
“Everyone in the government understands that through our actions we must reinforce people’s sense that voting matters. Organizing elections and ensuring they are conducted in a fair and proper manner is a clear task. But people’s understanding that voting matters, and the climate created to encourage that belief, are extremely important,” Traikov said.
He added that issues such as electricity bills should not be turned into political arguments during the election campaign and should instead be addressed in an expert and professional manner.
The minister did not rule out personnel changes in energy companies if a genuine need for such measures is established.
