An event in Sofia's Boris Garden on Saturday will try to recreate authentic children's outdoor games from the 1980s. In the Bulgarian language the event is called after a popular children's counting-out rhyme which is similar to the Eeny, meeny, miny, moe rhyme known to English-speaking kids.
The event is part of an initiative Playing Together implemented by the Enthusiast Publishing House and inspired by the children's book of the same name by writer Silvia Valentino and artist Lada Yankova who did the illustrations. The book was published by Enthusiast earlier in 2022.
Families with kids are welcome to take part in the competitions in the different games which are the same games today's parents and grandparents played in their childhood.
In addition to playgrounds for the classic outdoor games, there will be a special painting corner where artist Lada Yankova will be helping young aspiring artists create their own masterpieces.
The event will take place in the area around the open-air theatre in the Boris Garden, from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
