Minister of Culture Marian Bachev congratulated Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Director General Kiril Valchev on his re-election by the National Assembly on Thursday.
In a congratulatory address circulated by the Ministry of Culture, Bachev noted that Valchev’s unanimous endorsement for a second five-year term reflected broad public trust in his leadership of the agency.
“Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on your unanimous re-election by the National Assembly to a second five-year term as Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency,” reads the congratulatory address circulated by the Ministry of Culture.
The message recalls that, in the history of Slavic letters, the wise Chernorizets Hrabar reminded us that divine providence “does not leave the human race without reason, but leads all to reason and salvation,” having sent Saint Constantine-Cyril to create the letters of the Word.
“Paraphrased for our own time – every era needs people of order, measure and truth in the written and spoken word. It is good that today BTA is led by a man who embodies not only the name, but also the respect for this tradition,” Bachev added.
“In recent years, your work has shown that sustainable leadership can be both modern and firmly grounded in the values of Bulgaria’s educational and cultural traditions. The unanimous vote of 170 in favour is proof of the high regard in which you are held by the public and of the confidence in the course you are charting,” Bachev wrote.
Earlier on Thursday, Parliament unanimously re-elected Valchev, who ran unchallenged for the post, to a second five-year term as Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency, with 170 votes in favour and none against or abstaining.
