Vazrazhdane begins collecting signatures for the removal of Nataliya Kiselova from the post of Chair of the National Assembly due to systematic failure to fulfill her duties, Petar Petrov announced to the media.
The consultations will exclude the ruling political formations – GERB-UDF, BSP–United Left, and There Is Such a People, along with their supporter MRF–New Beginning. Petrov said 80 signatures are required to submit a request for the Chair’s removal.
He recalled that last Friday, Vazrazhdane submitted an objection against Kiselova’s allocation of committee assignments for the three bills that remove the President’s authority to issue decrees for the appointment of the heads of the State Agency for National Security, the State Intelligence Agency, and the State Agency Technical Operations.
According to Vazrazhdane, this undermines the principle of separation of powers and the constitutional role of the President as a balancing institution.
Regarding the lack of quorum in the plenary chamber Wednesday and Thursday, Petar Petrov commented that this Parliament has run its course, which is evident in the attitude of the majority’s representatives, "who chose to be on delegations or on vacation instead of in the chamber. He noted that ensuring quorum is the responsibility of the ruling parties, and that the Chair of the National Assembly approved all the official trips and is now trying to assemble a quorum.
Vazrazhdane will continue to refuse to register for sittings, Petrov stated.
