Employees of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), and the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) will protest Thursday demanding a pay rise of at least 15%. The protest will be under the slogan "Work in the media has value" and will start at noon at the intersection in front of Sofia University. Workers at the correspondent bureaus of the three media outlets will take part in protest actions across the country.

BTA, BNR and BNT staff demand that the state budget allocate additional funds for salaries in the amount of BGN 14 million: 3 million for BTA, 5 million for BNR, and 6 million for BNT.

The organization of Thursday's protest action was announced days ago by the leaders of the media unions.

In March, a trade union protest which included protesters from the three media outlets shut down traffic on the capital's Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd with a call for pay increases in the three public media. The action was part of the protest of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) which demanded that pay raises be included in the state budget for 2025.
