Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova met with Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary-General Mathias Cormann on the sidelines of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris, the Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Petrova said that Bulgaria's accession to the OECD remains a key foreign policy priority for the new Bulgarian government, which has committed itself to completing the technical phase of the accession process as soon as possible.
"We highly value the close, positive and constructive cooperation with the OECD Secretariat throughout the accession negotiations process," Petrova said.
For his part, Cormann reaffirmed his personal commitment to the Organisation's enlargement process. He said that Bulgaria remains well positioned to complete the technical phase of its accession process within 2026.
Petrova and Cormann shared the view that Bulgaria's accession to the OECD would be mutually beneficial and expressed readiness to continue their close cooperation with a view to successfully concluding the process.
