Stefana Karaslavova Released as National Assembly Secretary General by Mutual Consent

Effective Wednesday, Stefana Karaslavova has been released as Secretary General of the National Assembly by mutual consent, the parliamentary press centre confirmed to BTA.

On Tuesday evening, Karaslavova reportedly sent a letter to all MPs and administration employees notifying them that she will no longer perform her functions.

Under the Rules of Organization and Procedure of the National Assembly, the secretary general exercise urgent administrative functions of the chair of the legislature in case a chair of a newly constituted parliament is not elected. Under the Rules of Operation of the National Assembly administration, the secretary general authorizes current expenditures on the National Assembly budget for the needs of Parliament and proposes changes to the structure of revenues and expenditures.  

Karaslavova has served as secretary general between 2017 and 2021 and since 2022.
