Bulgarian Armed Forces personnel demonstrated professionalism and readiness in responding to modern threats during the country’s first participation in NATO’s major international chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defence exercise BRAVE BEDUIN 2025, the Ministry of Defence reported on Friday.

The exercise was held from May 4 to 8 in the city of Skive, Kingdom of Denmark, with participants from 19 NATO member states.

BRAVE BEDUIN 2025 is a computer-assisted command post exercise aimed at enhancing NATO’s capabilities for early warning and reporting of CBRN incidents in a dynamic international environment. Participants used the CBRN Analysis software and followed NATO procedures to improve operational interoperability between national structures and commands.

The exercise focused on three main tasks: improving warning and reporting processes, supporting commanders with accurate expertise for planning and implementing protective measures, and sharing best practices and knowledge among national teams.

Bulgaria was represented by personnel from the Joint Forces Command, the Air Force, the National Centre of Radiobiology and Radiation Protection, and main calculation and information centres. During the exercise, Bulgarian service members displayed a high level of professionalism, excellent preparation, and adaptability in handling CBRN incident reporting procedures, confirming their readiness to contribute effectively to joint Allied operations.

Bulgaria’s participation in BRAVE BEDUIN 2025 is not only recognition of national expertise but also an important step toward strengthening CBRN defence capabilities and contributing to the Alliance’s collective security, the statement said.
