site.btaPresident Radev to Youth Guards: Protect Our Pride, Preserve Bulgaria
The survival and success of the country as a nation and a sovereign state depend on our ability to protect the foundations of national dignity, confidence, and patriotism, President Rumen Radev said during an address to students from school guard detachments in the Coat of Arms Hall at the presidential institution on the Day of Valour and Armed Forces Day.
The event gathered young people from the school guard detachment at Krum Popov Secondary School in Levski, the Sergey Rumyantsev Vocational School of Agriculture in Lukovit, the Ivan Vazov Secondary School in Pomorie, the Nikola Pushkarov Vocational School of Agriculture in Popovo, as well as volunteers from the Youth Guard Detachments association.
Radev noted that the association, founded seven years ago under his patronage, now plays an important role in promoting patriotism among young people in Bulgaria. He also said that 22 school detachments, four school guard orchestras, and one children's guard detachment have been established.
For its role in promoting patriotism among young people and supporting the development of civil society in Bulgaria, Radev presented the association with the President's Honorary Badge, which was accepted by Association Chair Angelova. Radev also presented certificates recognizing significant contributions to the youth guard detachments initiative.
Radev spoke to the young guards, stating that the guard uniform is a well-known symbol of Bulgarian statehood. "Soon, as full citizens of the country, you will contribute to Bulgaria’s growth as a modern European nation. Be curious, always willing to learn, and act responsibly towards the nation and society. Remember, you have only one homeland—work for its strength and prosperity. You are the hope for Bulgaria’s future and honour," Radev said.
After receiving the President's Honorary Badge, Angelova said: "Sometimes, recognition is more than just a reward – it reflects what we truly believe in."
