Countering and neutralizing terrorist crimes, ways to identify terrorist cells, as well as the investigation and prosecution of terrorist financing were among the main topics of an international seminar that Bulgarian Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov and Chief Prosecutor of Turkiye Bekir Sahin opened the at the prosecution service base in Tsigov Chark, said thе prosecution press centre. The forum is part of Sahin's official visit to Bulgaria, along with a delegation of magistrates led by him.

The framework of the seminar includes the exchange of good practices and a review the legal framework regarding measures to counter terrorism and its financing. Magistrates from the Supreme Prosecutor's Office, investigators from the National Investigation Service, representatives of the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime, the State Agency for National Security and prosecutors from the Republic of Turkiye participated in the forum.

During his visit to this country, Turkish Prosecutor General Bekir Sahin will hold meetings with representatives of the judiciary, the Ministry of the Interior and the security services.

Sahin is visiting Bulgaria in response to the visit of a delegation of the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office, led Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, in Ankara last year. Then the President of the Court of Cassation of Turkiye, Mehmet Akarca, met with Sarafov and the Interior Minister of Bulgaria, Kalin Stoyanov. During the talks, issues related to international mutual assistance in the field of justice and options for strengthening cooperation were discussed.
