site.btaSofia’s Theatre of Satire Impresses Kumanovo Audience with Somerset Maugham Classic


With a round of applause, the audience in the packed hall of the Trajko Prokopiev Cultural Center in Kumanovo Monday night honored the cast of the play The Constant Wife, performed by Sofia's Aleko Konstantinov Theatre of Satire.
The production, based on a play by Somerset Maugham and directed by Boyka Velkova, is Bulgaria’s entry in this year’s 28th edition of the Comedy Days festival in Kumanovo. The audience was impressed by the stage performances of young actors Stella Gancheva, Svetlozar Nachev, Lana Gekova, Rositsa Aleksandrova, Rada Kairyakova, Andzhelika Djambazova, Mikhail Sarvanski, Sotir Melev, and Martin Karov. The set and costume design for The Constant Wife are by Nina Pashova, music by Teodosii Spassov, and dramaturgy by Bogdana Kosturkova.
This year’s Comedy Days in Kumanovo features a total of 11 productions from various theaters in North Macedonia, Serbia, and Bulgaria.
The festival began on September 24, and the awards will be presented on October 10, including those for Best Performance, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Set Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Director.
This year’s jury is chaired by theater director and acting teacher Aleksandar Ivanovski, and includes actress Dubravka Kiselichki, writer and translator Petar Andonovski, Stefan Jakimovski from the Faculty of Design and Multimedia at AUE-FON University in Skopje, and Gergana Traykova, programming director of the Vratsa Drama Theatre.
