Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok will be paying an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of his counterpart, Rumen Radev, on October 19-20, Radev's press secretariat said.
The visit begins on the Day of Bulgarian-Hungarian Friendship. The talks between the two presidents and their delegations are expected to focus on opportunities to deepen relations between Bulgaria and Hungary in the economy, energy, trade, transport, education and science, tourism, sport and culture.
Issues on the European and the international agenda, as well as current security challenges, are also expected to be discussed.
On Sunday, the two presidents will visit the Nikolay Haytov Rhodope Drama Theatre in the southern town of Smolyan. There, an exhibition titled "In Memory of a Charisma" and a music and poetry recital will be presented. Both events are dedicated to the Day of Bulgarian-Hungarian Friendship and the 100th birth anniversary of the Hungarian poet and translator of many Bulgarian works, Laszlo Nagy (1925-1978), who has been an honorary citizen of Smolyan since 1976.
Earlier in the day, the two presidents will visit the Bachkovo monastery and the Laszlo Nagy House Museum in Smolyan.
The Day of Bulgarian-Hungarian Friendship, observed on October 19 since 2016, will be marked with a series of cultural events in both Bulgaria and Hungary, BTA learned from Svetla Kjoseva, Editor-in-Chief of Hemus, the bilingual magazine for culture and public life.
