Flights to 16 destinations will be operated from Varna Airport in the upcoming winter, which are four more destinations than in 2024, Airport Director Dimitar Kostadinov said in Wednesday.
He noted that among the new routes will be those to Bergamo in Italy and Bratislava in Slovakia, as well as to two airports in Germany. Kostadinov also pointed out that flights to other destinations will be more frequent in the winter months of 2025 than in 2024. Flights on the route to Bergamo will be operated by Wizz Air twice a week.
Varna Airport has served nearly 1.4 million passengers since the beginning of 2025, which is an increase of 17% compared to the same period in 2024, the airport director emphasized. He pointed out that the most serious increase has been from tourists in Germany, adding that connections have been made from Varna to 15 airports in Germany, with the airport having served about half a million passengers on these routes.
The airport management and representatives of Wizz Air also officially celebrated eight years since the opening of the Wizz Air base in Varna. Anastasia Novak, Corporate Sustainability and Communications Manager at Wizz Air, pointed out that the company's goal is to strengthen its presence in Central and Eastern Europe, with Varna being a promising destination. She added that the possibilities for establishing a connection between the Bulgarian city with Larnaca in Cyprus and Barcelona in Spain are being considered.
