President Rumen Radev has decreed the appointment of Hristiyan Hristov as acting Director of the Military Police Service, effective September 19, until a permanent director is appointed, for a period not exceeding one year.

On September 10, the Council of Ministers proposed that the President issue a decree appointing Colonel Hristov.

By another decree, Brigadier General Ivaylo Sotirov was released as director of the Military Police Service and from military service upon reaching the statutory age limit.

The Military Police Service is part of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and reports directly to the Minister of Defence. It operates independently or in cooperation with other security services and law enforcement bodies, according to the Service's website.
