Bulgarian Academy of Sciences President Evelina Slavcheva held a meeting with Baku Slavic University Rector Anar Naghiyev here on Wednesday, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) said in a press release. Attending the meeting at the BAS headquarters was Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Bulgaria Huseyn Huseynov.

Baku Slavic University focuses on teaching Slavic languages, as well as in-depth research into the history and culture of the countries where these languages are spoken, the BAS noted.

Dr. Naghiyev briefed the BAS President on the work of the Center for Bulgarian Studies, which operates within the University. Currently, more than 50 students are studying there, and the study of Bulgarian language attracts considerable interest, the press release reads.

The sides agreed to take steps to establish cooperation between scholars in the field of Bulgarian studies and history from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Baku Slavic University.
