site.btaCC-DB Demand Hearing of Prosecutor General at Legal Affairs Committee as Soon as Possible

The Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) demand that Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev be heard by the Legal Affairs Committee at the National Assembly as soon as possible, the coalition said in a statement sent to the media late on Wednesday evening.

After first announcing publicly and in an official correspondence to the Committee on Legal Affairs his desire to be heard, today [Wednesday] Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev did not appear before the MPs. The chair of the Committee asked the Prosecutor's Office when the current Prosecutor General could be heard, the press release said.

Geshev's hearing was on the agenda of the parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs on Wednesday. At the beginning of the meeting, the chairman of the Committee Stoyu Stoev informed the MPs that a letter had been received from the Prosecutor General stating that he had a work appointment and requesting that another meeting be scheduled for the hearing, if possible.
