site.btaSofia University Among Top 40% of Universities in QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026

For the third consecutive year, St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia has been ranked in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, which were announced on November 18, said the university's press centre. Sofia University is ranked 814th out of 2,002 universities in Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa.

It ranks in the top 40% of the world's best universities, 312th place out of 621 European universities and 29th out of 90 Eastern European universities.

QS World University Rankings: Sustainability examines the commitments that universities demonstrate in their work to promote sustainable development and address the problems arising from climate change and its environmental impact. The assessment considers research in science and technology related to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the social and environmental impact of universities as centres of education.

Universities are assessed in three categories: environmental impact, social impact, and good governance. Each category has different performance indicators, composed of individual indicators.

Sofia University is ranked 1025th in the "Environmental Impact" category, 845th in "Social Impact", 370th in "Governance", 728th in "Environmental Sustainability", 677th in "Gender Equality," 654th in "Knowledge Exchange", and 370th in "Good Governance".
