"Active cultural policy is key to preserving our national remembrance and integrating Bulgarian communities abroad," the President said during his visit to the Centre.
The scientific institute was founded in 1986 and preserves the richest collection of Greek manuscripts in Bulgaria, over 70 Slavic and 200 oriental, bilingual and trilingual manuscripts, which were written in the period between the 9th and 19th centuries.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Centre, Prof. Vasya Velinova, the founder of the Centre and its former director, Prof. Aksinia Dzhurova, and Sofia University Rector Prof. Georgi Valchev.
During his visit, the head of State was acquainted with the scientific and research activities of the Centre in the field of restoration and conservation of medieval manuscripts. Radev highlighted the significant contribution of Bulgarian historians to the preservation of the rich cultural and historical heritage of Bulgaria, written testimonies, and remembrance of the enlightened Bulgarian statehood from the Middle Ages.
