Viktor Fuchedji from the Bulgarian-Gagauzian village of Kubei, Bolhrad District, Odesa Region died at the front, the Kubei village municipality announced on its Facebook page.
The 25-year-old soldier served as a sniper at the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
The municipality added in its post that the farewell ceremony for the fallen soldier will be held on December 13 at the local church, where the funeral service will be held.
Odesa Region is home to the third largest community of expatriate Bulgarians, numbering more than 150,000 people, according to an official population census in Ukraine in 2001. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the regional capital, Odesa. Bulgarians in the region are concentrated in the districts of Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
