The final match of the FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship between Bulgaria and Italy will be broadcast live from the Philippines on large outdoor screens in several Bulgarian cities, according to reports from the Youth and Sports Ministry and Sofia City Hall, released on Saturday.
The match will start at 13:30 hrs Bulgarian time on Sunday.
This is the second time ever that the Bulgarian national men's volleyball team reach the world final.
Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Ruse, and Veliko Tarnovo are putting up big screens for mass viewings of the broadcast. The one in Sofia will be in the central St Alexander Nevsky Square.
Former volleyball stars Evgeni Ivanov and Dimo Tonev believe that Bulgaria have their chance to win against reigning world champions Italy, one of the most decorated teams in the history of this sport.
Ivanov expects the Bulgarians to do their best because a world final usually comes only once in a player's lifetime. He said it's great that guys who play in the Bulgarian league can match up, or even be superior, to the stars playing in Europe's best national leagues.
According to Tonev, the Bulgarians are under much strain as the whole world is watching them, but their Italian coach Gianlorenzo Blengini knows how to allay the pressure.
The Italian team captain, Simone Giannelli, said the Nikolov brothers may be the top members of the Bulgarian team, but he holds all players in the team in high regard. Giannelli said Italy will have a hard time on Sunday, and therefore they need to keep their performance at a very high level.
