Bulgarian swimmer Petar Mitsin has qualified for the men’s 400-metre freestyle final at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

The 19-year-old delivered a strong swim, finishing fourth in the heats with a time of 3:45.01 minutes, very close to his personal best and junior world record of 3:44.31 minutes.

Mitsin will swim in lane six in the final on Sunday.

Another Bulgarian, Lyubomir Epitropov, placed 26th in the men’s 100-metre breaststroke with a time of 1:00.93 minutes and did not advance to the semi-finals.

On the women’s side, Bulgaria’s Diana Petkova finished 28th in the 200-metre individual medley heats, clocking 2:16.03 minutes.
